Adam: You can’t find yesterday

This short film is part of the Human Postcards series. I was responsible for creating a completely new soundtrack for the film, using foley and other recorded sound.

Adam is an elderly Polish shoemaker who despite being well beyond retirement age, can’t imagine sitting on a bench counting clouds’. In my soundtrack we take a sonic journey through Adam’s workshop moving between his familiar routine (workshop foley sounds) and the lifetime of memories (shoe whispers) that surround or even haunt him. The laboured harmonium sets a time and place and mirrors the deliberate breathing of lifelong smoker. The wisps of singing act as threads connecting his work his life and his memories.
